WHY STRENGTH

Losing weight can be a reason to begin.

Staying capable can become a reason to continue.

Strength is not only about lifting weights.

It matters in ordinary parts of life.

Carrying groceries. Climbing stairs. Moving something heavy. Lifting your suitcase. Going for a hike. Getting up from the floor. Continuing to travel. Continuing to try new things.

Strength is also about continuing to live the way you want.

Why talk about strength during perimenopause and menopause?

Because as we age and move through the menopause transition, protecting muscle mass, strength, and physical function deserves particular attention.

Strength training can play an important role in that protection.

That does not mean every woman needs to begin at a gym.

It also does not mean strength training must become everyone’s destination.

It simply deserves to be understood as a possibility.

You do not have to start strong to become stronger.

When I moved very little, the gym felt far away.

I did not begin there.

I began by walking.

Then movement took up more room. My confidence grew. One day, strength training became something I wanted to try.

That is the spirit of Début:

You do not force yourself to begin at the destination. You begin where you are and let new possibilities open.

What if strength becomes one of those possibilities?

The book gives you a simple way to discover it.

Not an extreme program.

Not a 30-day transformation.

A clear, gradual introduction to basic movements, so you can begin without already thinking of yourself as a gym person.

You do not need to know today whether you will enjoy it. You only need the chance to discover that the door is there.
